Our familia and Jack’s familia had plans to go to
Carmel/Monterey today but things came up so we had a change of plan. It was a good thing because not only did it rain, but the weather was a bit nippy. As they say, April showers bring May flowers. I guess we’ll have to go some other time. Today was my father-in-law’s birthday too so we went to the mall to look for a present for him. Since it was already past lunch time when we left and we were going “down” that way, we decided to try this buffet located in Fremont called “World Buffet.” I had seen an advertisement (with a 15% coupon) of it a couple of weeks ago for this “upscale” buffet restaurant.
The hubs and I had thought about having AC’s graduation “luncheon” at that restaurant but we wanted to try the restaurant first. And so, since we were headed in that direction and we were pretty much “starving” by then, we venturedĀ over to the restaurant. Call me a “pig” but when it comes to buffets, I like to get my money’s worth and stuff myself silly. It was a good thing that we didn’t have much for breakfast.
Of all the “buffets” that I’ve been to around my neck of the woods, I think this one has the most to offer and their decor has a bit of “elegance” to it. Like most typical Asian type buffets, they have the Mongolian style stir-fry and grill station, but this one had a sushi corner. Their seafood selections were plenty. I liked their rolled rock cod, although I found their salmon to be a little too salty. They had a wide variety of soup: sharkfin tail soup, miso soup, egg flower soup, etc. Besides Japanese & Chinese food, they even had Hawaiian Barbecue. I thought it was pretty good but the hubs and JP said the beef was a little to tough. They even offered a wide variety of dim-sum. Did you notice the chicken feet pictured here? JP plopped it on my plate because he knows I eat it (gross,
huh?) I guess because of their vast food selection, I didn’t even see where they had their chicken feet. Oh . . this buffet also had a chocolate fountain station but shouldn’t the “chocolate” have been “warmed” as it oozes over? Hmm . . . although it wasn’t warm, I still liked my chocolate covered strawberries and marshmallows. Overall the food is fairly good at this “upscale” buffet restaurant, albeit we were starving when we arrived there. As for their desserts, they had
this thing called a “peach bun” with red beans. I did like their custard buns and miniature egg tarts too! The price is reasonable for what you get. Lunch on weekends from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. is 10.99 per person . . . plus the bottomless soda at 1.99. Lastly, one problem with buffets . . . people tend to eat too much more than necessary. IĀ for one!
